June, 2020, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
My name is Mohsen (English-friendly: /ˈmoʊsɛn/; Persian-accurate: /moːhˈsɛn/).
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Public Affairs and Administration at the University of Kansas.
My research centers on energy and environmental governance, policy, and justice. Currently, I am working on my doctoral dissertation at the intersection of regulatory governance, energy justice, and the U.S. electric utility sector.
I bring multidisciplinary professional experience as an urban planner and architect, specializing in sustainability, climate action planning, and energy efficiency. I hold a Master of Urban Planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an earlier Master’s in Architecture and Energy from the University of Tehran, and a Bachelor’s in Architecture.
In Spring 2026, I am teaching PUAD 441: Public Service Leadership, a course designed to cultivate students’ capacities for ethical judgment, reflective practice, and collaborative leadership within the public and nonprofit sectors.
I also serve as a member of the Environmental Sustainability Advisory Board for the City of Lawrence, KS.
